Return To The Forbidden Planet Social Media Teaser
So this was an odd one, I don't often do this but I'm defiantly going to in future. Here's the story - Lizz from LCM contacted me asking if I was interested in doing something for not much, her client Titchfield Festival Theatre a very serious amateur theatre company based in Hampshire were after a short teaser for their upcoming  production of "Return To The Forbidden Planet". The budget was small but the project was interesting and gave me a chance to try a few interesting techniques as well as working something a little less corporate.

A little bit about the process. The client was after something fun and dynamic that reflected the production and the already supplied poster. I wanted to explore a few new techniques and on tis occasion the 2 fitted hand in glove. Welcome to the Spidy-verse! I really wanted to do something a lot more graphic comic style than I ever get much of a chance to do in much of the corporate work that I do. The 1/2 tone graphic style is very much in the van at the moment due to the fantastic look of the latest Spider-Man movie, its a style I've long been interested  in mixing 2D illustrative style with 3D assets.

Textures of planets, backgrounds and other assets were created in Photoshop trying to keep a painterly style. All the 3d was doe in C4D using the the standard renderer. using 3 textures for each assets. one for the general colour, one for the 1/2tone highlights and one for the hatched shadows. The last 2 are quite subtle as I was trying to match that style thats seen in graphic novels. From there we go to after effects where the 3d render is composited on to the background image along with a load of other particles and glows, colour corrections and text.
Once rendered out from AE we go to Premiere for the final audio mix. The track is a purchased music track from Pond5 while the VO is in this case all my own work!
